The Safer Essex Roads Partnership (SERP) enforcement team has been out across the North and South of the county focusing on high level collision sites, working alongside Community Speed Watch (CSW) volunteers and local residents.
Through a “you said, we did” approach, Essex Police listened to community concerns around speeding and anti-social driving and targeted the areas at risk. Support from the public was overwhelming, with residents coming out to speak directly with officers, sharing when and where speeding is most prevalent. This local insight will help target future enforcement.

Colchester: Dedham, Layer De La Haye, Copford, Heckfordbridge- 76 offences detected.
Tendring: Kirby le Soken, Kirby Cross, Clacton, Great & Little Clacton, Point Clear, St Osyth- 53 offences detected.
Harwich: Lower Road, Oakley Road, Ramsey Road, Main Road, Parkeston Road- 33 offences detected.
A130: 81 offences detected.
Ramsden Heath: 13 offences detected. The team met with the local councillor at the roadside, discussing collision hotspot and how unpredictable enforcement is being undertaken countywide, to combat risky driving.
South (Basildon, Wickford, Vange, Pitsea, Radwinter Avenue): 60 offences detected.
Total: In three days of action, 349 offences were identified.
Why it matters- Vision Zero

Every offence detected represents a potential risk of a future serious or fatal collision. By targeting hotspots, listening to residents, and taking visible enforcement action, the SERP and partners are working towards Vision Zero- the ambition of eliminating deaths and serious injuries on Essex roads by 2040.
Enforcement is only one part of the approach; combined with education, engineering, and engagement, it is helping to make Essex’s roads safer for everyone.
