Safer Essex Roads Partnership (SERP) members, Essex Police, were out in force last week, targeting collision hotspots and responding to community concerns about risky driving behaviours.
From rural lanes to busy town roads, officers were met with strong support from residents and drivers who stopped to thank the team for their efforts in keeping roads safe, the team were even lucky enough to get a quick hello from Poppy the dog.

Chelmsford
- A130: Several drivers recorded over 80mph, with one clocked at 102mph.
- Stock: A great outcome with just one offence.
- Rettendon and Ramsden: Positive community engagement at both locations.
- Great Baddow- Maldon Road: 44 offences, top speed 50mph in a 30mph limit.
In total, 307 offences were recorded during five days of action- a stark reminder of the work still to be done.

Speeding doesn’t just increase the likelihood of a collision- it makes every crash more severe. High speeds reduce the time and space drivers have to react and even a small increase in speed dramatically increases the risk of serious or death.
Slow down, play your part and protect your community.
Together, we are working towards Vision Zero – a future where no one dies or is seriously injured on Essex roads.
