Schools are offered parent and reception child road safety walks, where parents can establish ways to teach their child Road Safety from an early age.
All schools are offered pedestrian training for their year 5 pupils. Year 5 pupils take part in an interactive discussion in the classroom, followed by a road side session in close proximity to their school. Pupils are given follow on work, including the ‘Think’ Journey planner.
Year 5 pupils at schools in 6 priority towns are given the opportunity to learn about the dangers of speeding drivers, by allowing them, with a Road Safety and Police Officer, to educate drivers about the dangers and consequences of speeding near to their school.
