Colleges and universities

Safer Essex Roads can provide road safety education to students of all ages.

We support freshers’ fairs and events throughout the year at no cost to the instruction. Young people are most at risk; globally, road traffic crashes are a leading cause of death among young people, and the main cause of death among those aged 15–29 years.

My Small Change

The My Small Change campaign asks young drivers and passengers to pledge a small change that will inspire others and help save lives.

The campaign tours the county, visiting schools and colleges to provide road safety advice.

Those who complete the pledge will be entered into a prize draw to win some great prizes - including £50 amazon vouchers.

We can also offer a 45 minute presentation around My Small Change, giving information, strategies and action planning tips for practical road safety for students.

If you wish to book please contact us at saferessexroads@essexhighways.org. These sessions are delivered by our Road Safety experts with up to date information. All staff are DBS checked and trained in behaviour change techniques. We require screen and sound to play video and show some images.

Street Spirit

Motorcycles and mopeds may be an attractive form of transport for students, with lower age limits for licences, lower running costs but all the joy of independence. However, these are vulnerable road users and make up a significant number of injuries of even deaths on the road. Street Spirit campaign and micro-site offers a wealth of information and tips in short films and even a VR film.

Please share with young riders and help them to protect themselves.
