Online road safety tools for primary school children

Are you looking for something interactive and different to do with the children before they return to school?
The Safer Essex Roads Partnership (SERP) has developed online road safety tools for both reception and year 5 students.
Every year SERP interacts with over 20,000 school children, offering valuable road safety education. Sadly, the global pandemic and subsequent school closures means this hasn’t been possible.
However, to ensure both children and parents do not miss out on this valuable learning around how to stay safe on the road, SERP has created some online resources.
Nicola Foster, chairman of SERP, said: “This has been a challenging and unsettling time for us all and I know that parents have been worrying about their children missing out on their education by not being at school. It is also a time when parents are trying to keep their children occupied and stimulated.
“These online resources have been designed to be as interactive as possible, with many opportunities to answer questions and think about staying safe near the road. They offer an opportunity for family members to engage with each other when they go out walking and doing their daily exercise.
“The weather forecast looks good for half term week so why not take the opportunity to get out in the fresh air and have fun while knowing you’re teaching them valuable lessons about how to stay safe on the road. This is a great time for parents to be a good role model and encourage great road safety habits.”
