Nicola Foster appointed vice-chair of Road Safety GB

Nicola Foster, chair of the Safer Essex Roads Partnership (SERP) has been appointed as the new vice-chair of Road Safety GB.

Road Safety GBNicola Foster is a national road safety organisation made up of representatives from groups across the UK. This includes local government road safety teams.

Road Safety GB announced three board level appointments at the 2023 Road Safety GB AGM on 15 November.

Sam Merison was appointed as the organisation’s new chair. Phillipa Young (former chair) was appointed as a director to support the Road Safety GB Academy.

Sam steps up to the role of chair having spent the last year as vice-chair. This creates a vacancy which will be filled by Nicola Foster.

Nicola Foster is chair of the Safer Essex Roads Partnership (SERP). She started her highways training 33 years ago as a technician.

She is a Fellow of the IHE and holds a masters in Road Safety Engineering.

As the chair of SERP, Nicola is leading the charge towards Vision Zero and the Safe System approach in the county.

Nicola Foster said: “I’m honoured and delighted to be appointed vice chair of Road Safety GB.

“I look forward to continuing the excellent work this charity performs in supporting the delivery of road safety initiatives across the country.

“It is a great opportunity to work with other professionals and explore new ideas that will help SERP deliver the highest standards of road safety intervention.”
