Essex County Council is making a final call for residents and businesses to participate in a consultation on the county’s draft walking strategy.

The Draft Essex Walking Strategy, published in May 2019, is designed to promote more walking and improve the pedestrian environment.

The strategy, which covers the period 2019-2025, seeks to make walking ‘the natural choice’ for short trips or as part of a longer journey with other modes of transport such as trains, buses and ‘shared transport’.

The strategy outlines the ‘challenges and opportunities of walking in Essex’, and details the steps being taken to encourage walking at present and the future direction.

While the consultation is primarily intended for residents and businesses of Essex, anyone interested in improving the county’s streets and footways, and promoting walking and improving the pedestrian environment, is also invited to respond.

The consultation survey takes around five minutes to complete and the closing date for submissions is Friday 19 July. Click here for more information or to complete the survey.
