Convictions follow drink and drug drive campaign
More than 40 drivers have been convicted following a month-long drink and drug drive campaign earlier this summer.
The ‘Drive Safe, Drive Sober’ campaign, organised by the Safer Essex Roads Partnership with Essex Police, took place between 14 June and 15 July.
The campaign highlighted how alcohol and drugs can impair reactions and how the consequences when driving can be fatal.
Throughout the campaign – which coincided with the FIFA World Cup – officers from the Roads Policing Unit proactively stopped drivers around the county.
Drive Safe, Drive Sober resulted in 205 arrests being made – with help from the public, through the Extra Eyes campaign.
Since then, 46 drivers have been convicted and subsequently named and shamed on the Essex Police website. The webpage will be updated as more convictions are made.
SERP is asking anyone with information or intelligence about drink drivers to call Essex Police on 101 or visit the Extra Eyes website to submit evidence.
