Bikers encouraged to join the pack

SERP motorcycle run

Motorcyclists in Essex are being encouraged to sign up for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance spring Motorcycle Run, which takes place on 20 May.

The annual event – which is led by professional police outriders – starts at Police HQ in Welwyn Garden, finishing at the North Weald Family Fun Day on North Weald Airfield.

The 2018 event welcomes learner riders for the first time, with a series for of safety tips for riding – and riding as part of a pack – available on the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) website. Learner riders can also be partnered with a more experienced ‘biker buddy’ for advice and tips on the day.

Last year’s event attracted more than 3,000 bikers, raising more than £13,500 for the EHAAT

Jen Wall, EHAAT events manager, said:

“Last year’s Welwyn to North Weald Motorcycle Run was a triumph for us, and we look forward to welcoming new – and returning – faces for another successful year.

“We really value our ties with the biker community, and always see our Motorcycle Runs as a celebration of that.

“We’re excited to welcome On the Edge to our Family Fun Day, and hope that families and riders alike will have a great time and, mostly importantly, ride safely on the day.”

Registration for the event is £10 for a single rider and £15 for a rider and pillion. Book your bike a place now on the EHAAT website or call 0345 5040 055.
